Dr. Robert Kaufman grew up in Cloquet, Minnesota and attended St. Olaf College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and Religion. He obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 1990 and served as president of his class.

Upon completion of dental school, he accepted a commission as a dental officer with the United States Navy. It was during his time in service that he developed a keen interest in the specialty of Endodontics. He was accepted into and completed his advanced training at the National Naval Dental School in Bethesda Maryland. He obtained his certificate in Endodontics in 1998 and continued as a specialist Dental Officer with the Navy until 2000.

Dr. Kaufman is a board certified Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics. He is a member of the American Board of Endodontics in 2001. He is a member of the American Association of Endodontics College of Diplomates. Dr. Kaufman is also an Adjunct Clinical Professor in the graduate Endodontic program at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry.

The most fulfilling aspect of Endodontics for Dr. Kaufman is comforting the anxious patient. He enjoys continuing to advance his knowledge and education to keep up with current technology and research.

Dr. Kaufman and his wife Lynne reside in Chanhassen and have three adult daughters. Together they raise and train puppies for Can Do Canines, a local assistant dog organization. Interests outside of work include any activity that gets him outdoors. Any spare time finds him training for and competing in triathlons and cross-country skiing.
